It's about bloody time. This show has wallowed in the depths of mediocrity for untold episodes, but my hope that a true Nisioisin-worthy story might emerge was not unfounded. Just delayed.
With the Unzen arc, Medaka meets an opponent strong enough to push her beyond what we normally see and into a frenzy. If her line that she isn't a saint but just tries her hardest to always be right is to make any sense, this is the test that proves it.
If you want to watch this series, it may almost be better to watch the first few episodes and then just skip to 9. That's where things get interesting.
