Kimi to Boku Episode 10

The cultural festival has started and with it all the cliches and mischief you would expect.

Yukki, Chizuru, and Kaname are manning the haunted house while Shun and Yuta are waitressing in a cross-dress cafe. And, last but certainly not least (especially in this episode) is Masaki preparing for her play.

Chizuru drives most the action as he is coming to the slow realization that, for how often he makes fun of Masaki, he may have feelings for her.

This becomes more apparent when, too excited to show off in front of Shun, she flubs her lines. It ends up being Chizuru who comes to comfort her.

Kaname's crush also makes an appearance in this ep. She seems far too sweet and kind for his sour self.

Two gripes. Chizuru bugs me. He's terribly insensitive and responds like a five year old to most situations. And I am wondering what is going on with Shun. it is going to be upsetting if he is absent-mindedly leading Masaki on.

Rating: B+ (mainly for too much Chizuru)

Kimi to Boku Episode 9

I assume this this was supposed to be riffing on "The King's New Clothes"
but this is a whole lot of fail.

Cultural festival time! As everyone is sharing what their class is up to, we find out that Shun's class is doing a cafe with a twist. The twist is that everyone is going to cross dress.

I am sure there is a linguistic joke here...i'm just missing it.

Kaname-kun has quite the bit of pressure on him as Student Council and Class Rep, but the others are carefree as ever.

Oh, sounds like fun...

In fact, perhaps too fun loving. Watching the build-up is like watching a train wreck. Chizuru and Yukki keep screwing around and increasing Kaname's work and don't seem to care.

All the pressure finally becomes too much and Kaname screws something up (that was forced on him...but that's another issue).

And I want more of Azuma Sensei and Kaname's relationship explained. It's always tense with no explanation for why.

There is a "sweetness and light" wrap up to the whole scene, but I didn't really like the episode. It may simply be because I have been that student, but I don't like the message that you can do what you want and not have any empathy for people working hard to fulfill their responsibilities and that it is all okay in the end and doesn't need to be addressed. But then again, I'm a chronic cynic, so that may just be me.

It's okay Kaname-kun. I know your pain.

Kimi to Boku Episode 8

Shu even has a skirt.

Yuki-kun finally has to do something for the club he was forced into way back in episode one. As part of the Manga Club, he needs to actually draw a manga.

you want us to do what?

Yuki brings in his friends and they decide on drawing a relay manga with everyone covering one page. Oh the differences in the art styles...

What's with the coy look?

And is that a boy's love subplot? i guess it was only a matter of time...

The second half of the ep takes place from the pov of the little freshman who is from Yuki's club. He keeps trying to draw a "heroic" manga with Yuki in it, but can't seem to get it right...wonder why...

Not only does this show look pastel, it *feels* pastel.

Kimi to Boku Episode 7

Someone asks Yuta out and everyone is a bit in an uproar. The guys spy on the confession but don't want Yuta to know...but he won't say anything either.

What are friends for?

So they decide to follow Yuta on his date. Which always makes for a good time.

I am disappoint.

Yuta does some interesting introspection work in this episode. It's curious to watch him realize how little he does and how little he cares about and what that means.

nothing wrong with that!

But it also comes out that Takahashi (that's the girl, fyi) has something she's hiding about the whole situation. I won't spoil what it is. And Yuta is super cool in how he deals with it.

Shun's getting a haircut. Finally. Now i won't mistake him for a female character.

The boys are trying to finish up their summer home work before term starts and Kaname is as mean as ever to his sweet, super cute mom.

seriously. you shouldn't.

We then go on a flashback to the roots of Kaname's life as a glasses wearing 学生.

And are Shun and Masaki dating already?

Pretty "meh" episode.

Kimi to Boku Episodes 4 and 5

Double ep cause i fell behind. I think part of why i like this show (or can't seem to dislike it?) is the music. pretty scrumptious.

Male bonding.

In ep four it's the rainy season with all the poor weather, poor health and poor atitudes that brings with it. But we get some more back story with Kaori 先生　so in the end i am happy.

Kaname's mom pouting.

Kaname gets sick and everyone comes to visit. And apparently Kaname has some really 変　relationship with his mom...Noｔ really, but they play it off that way. And Kaname's friend Hisako makes her appearance. She seems fun. I like.

I can't tell if he is talking about the food or the girls...

In 5, Chizuru is the narrator and now we have sunny skies to contend with (like his overly bright demeanor). Chizuru has trouble getting people to play with him, but every seems up for a まつり.

trap.

I find it funny that the guy in this show that looks the most like a girl is the one who is the best boyfriend material.

And i don't usually like tsun girls (ok...that may be a lie...) but Masaki is definitely growing on me.

Chizuru, on the other hand, is becoming increasingly annoying. Actually, increasingly is the wrong word. Persists in being annoying.
