Chihayafuru Episode 10

The Misuzawa team is in their first big tournament: the high school regionals. And they are ready to make a stir in a whole number of ways.

Oe get's her way and everyone comes dressed in hakama (a traditional outfit) and they are the only school so dressed.

Beyond that, they make their way through the group stages, but Komono (the glasses kid) is losing confidence in himself - he can't seem to win a match - and his team - "Porky" keeps talking about using him and Oe as pawns for other teams strong players.

The have a team blow up with "Desktomu" (is how subers are rendering つくえくん, which literally means desk and has an honorific on the end) deciding not to play in the semis since he is just a pawn anyway.

This rattles the team and Taichi is going to have to struggle to get even Chihaya back on course. How will it turn out?

This isn't the worst version of this, but I have consistently seen this kind of (what i find to be) strange interpersonal dynamics. Someone is hurt by something (in this case, Komono by "Porky's" comments about just setting him against a teams A-Class player to lose) but in the end they end up appologizing for their reaction and nothing about the offense is ever dealt with. I don't quite understand why this is so prevalent.
Part of me thinks these are just plot holes - the set up of some discord requires the initial conflict, but the author really has no intention to resolve all strands of the issue they have presented in the narrative. But that may just be me being generous.
