Tamayura ~Hitotose~ Episode 1

No, sorry. THIS is the feel good of the season. holy saccarine sweetness!

(Main Character のなまい ふうです。)The story centers on a young girl named Fuu as she finally finds peace over the loss of her father and once again wants to take up photography, his craft, in honor of (or one could say in celebration of) him.

The first episode recounts Fuu's relationship with Chihiro, her overly sensitive yet wonderfully caring friend, and Fuu's family's eventual decision to return to her father's hometown. Honestly, Chihiro's facial expressions alone are worth the price of admission.

While there isn't, at first glance, all that much to this other than adorable characters, this show is actually pretty good. A story like this teeters on the edge of absurd emotionalism, but this somehow still keeps a measure of poignance and serious narration. The first episode neatly sets up a number of possibly meaningful narrative elements: self-discovering, starting over, and taking up a memory-laden mantle are all profound things. With good story telling this could be quite worth the commitment. If not, you get more facial expressions like this.
