Will the sakura blossoms bloom
In Sendai this spring?
Will they flutter, fragilely
Stoic, along a peaceful breeze?
Will petals fall, as in yesteryear,
Five centimeters per second?
Promise me these things are
True, that they will ever be,
That sorrow might just be
More fleeting still than beauty –
Though on ephemeral paths,
Blossoms never fail to return.
Let each petal carry memories –
Trembling images of beauty reborn.
