Last Exile - Fam, the Silver Wing Episode 12-13

a quasi-onsen like scene that isn't ecchi? no way!

These two episodes comprise the Glacies episodes. After Liliana's treachery and the Sylvius' desperate escape, Fam and the girls find themselves taken care of by one of Glacies "Sky Priestesses", Dian.

Through fits and starts and that subtle yuri subplot, the girls make friends with their Russian speaking caretaker (seems the Russkies ended up in the cold part of the globe even here. tough break, ne).

Sorry Dian, Fam's just awkward.

Once their vanship is back in order, the girls head out only to find that the Federation is invading and has left a wake of destruction behind.

cute Dian blush.

I can only hope that all the myriad plotlines in play will end satisfactorily. But too many of them leave me concerned. Too many of the ostensibly "good" characters are far too complicit in too much death and destruction to simply have a redemptive moment. Liliana chief among them. There is some sense that guilt will not be dealt with lightly, but i am unclear as to how this may play out.

those eyes...
Liliana's character remains confusing. There needs to be something to explain the change in her character. How does the stalwart and courageous character of the first few episodes become such a vile traitor to her roles as princess, sister, and person? I hope the writers tread lightly because this has the makings of a rough landing.
