Chihayafuru Episode 4-5

In 4, Arata is packed up and ready to move, breaking up the group of karuta players that had formed around him through Chihaya's energy. But they all promise to keep mastering their craft and meet up again (ok, so the opening was way too melodramatic for me...).
bye Arata!
Theeeen. TIME SKIP! Bring on the awkward love triangle dynamics!
Violent Reunion #1!!

Chihaya is trying to move up a class and rope Taichi into helping form a Karuta club. She has a big tournament that may help her do both. How will it turn out?
Did they think about how this scene would look?

More and more i am intriuged by karuta and how complicated it seems to be.

I honestly feel a little bad for Taichi in ep 4. How do you not totally fall in love with Chihaya?
THAT'S not misleading.
Chihaya excitedly updates Arata on her success only to hear him say he has given up karuta. So Chihaya and Taichi go to see him.
Violent Reunion #2!!
Poor Taichi seems totally gone for Chihaya, but she is dense as they come. Or is it because she hasn't realized she i in love with Arata? Maybe.
This is what you get for making bad choices.
Chihaya's airheadedness comes out in force in ep 5. There are a number of face palm moments.
Well that's good to hear!
The meeting with Arata doesn't go like any of them would have planned, and perhaps as none of them would have wanted. I am truly amazed that the first response from Chihaya is "let's play karuta," as opposed to "what happened?" And this played out a little too overly melodramatic for me.

Rating (ep 4): A
Rating (ep 5): B+

Don't worry Chihaya, you're still cute even with your boogers.
