Campione! 4-6

Loli Athena

Even the fish on her apron blushed.

How can you say no to that face?

Liliana, saying sorry doesn't make it alright to kidnap someone
and put their life in danger. It just doesn't.

Misc 15

Sword Art Online was really enjoyable this week. While it was a total moe/loli obligatory episode, it was also nice to see Kirito not suffer in an episode. Dude's life is rough.

Tari Tari is slowing down even with more about Wakana's past coming to light. Kokoro Connect, on the other hand, is getting pretty serious and is doing a good job of it. Keep watching that one. Other than that, nothing too important to report.

Campione 2

The newly crowned Campione - god slayer - is having a little trouble getting used to his new situation, particularly as Erica has been a little overt in her attention toward him. But there is still much that Godou doesn't know.

This show is pretty borderline, in my opinion. The actual plot progression is a little two hackneyed, but the general setting is somewhat interesting. Erica can be fun, and Godou isn't a total tool, so that also helps. But it still seems like we aren't into the meat of the story yet.

That being said, I'll probably watch for the weird religious elements. Those are hard for me to resist.

Campione 1 [PRE-AIR]

Gotta love it when the girl comes at you with a knife.

On an errand for his grandfather to return a grimoire to an old friend, Godou runs into a world unlike any other. God's walk the earth, mystical powers are unleashed, and he ends up in the company of a cute young mage. But none of this would have prepared him for what comes next: becoming king of the gods.

She spent half the ep blushing or buzzed.

Well, a few things are clear after episode one. First, half the show revolves around showing Erica blushing or dressed down to the point that she should be. Second, this is firmly within the line of the magical/diving/grimoire series, but this time the focus in on bringing in ancient Near-Eastern gods. Third, be ready for a lot of shounen action and awkward/flirty interactions between the two leads.

But being typically shounen that means a few things as well that should shape viewing expectations: (1) it cannot be a great series. Shounen series have to do a number of things (have periodic fights, awkward romances, lurching character development) that preclude the possibility of greatness. (2) It will be somewhat entertaining. Doing things by the book means they will be average. But average can be enjoyable. (3) Be ready for super dumb moralizing speeches in every fight.

Guess it's not a slow romance...

Ultimately, this could be a pretty fun show, but will likely be rather  indistinguishable from the regular fare. That floats many a boat. Also, the magic/grimoire crowd will be pleased. The only thing I mildly interested in is if the writers can make the "random human becomes a god" bit work well.
